Commissioning a Wahnsinn EVO in the United Kingdom
A right-hand-drive 190E that never becomes an import keeps its plate and its papers intact. So for a British owner we do not sell a car. We build one on yours.
This is how we are building the car for a British owner right now. A left-hand-drive car exported to the United Kingdom is possible too, and some owners prefer it; then the car follows the European route with export paperwork and UK import VAT on top. Tell us which you want and we set both out side by side.
Structure
One service agreement. You keep ownership throughout; the car is never sold to us or back to you.
Donor
We find it, you buy it in your own name, or you nominate one you already own. Up to EUR 10,000 of the EUR 140,000 is the donor; EUR 130,000 is our build fee, paid 50/40/10.
Which donor
First registered before 1 August 1992. Later cars need a catalytic converter for the MOT emissions test, which this build does not carry.
Registration
The car keeps its own plate and stays right-hand drive. Engine and body changes are declared to DVLA on form V627/3, with the evidence we supply.
Import
None. The car goes over on a trailer and comes back on one.
VAT
No Dutch VAT on the work. How the UK treats work done abroad on your own car is a question for your accountant; we put the clauses in front of you before you sign.
Transport
To Etten-Leur and back, outside the price, quoted separately.
What you do
- Buy the donor we find, or nominate one you already own, before the build starts.
- Deliver it to Etten-Leur, or let us arrange the trailer.
- Have your accountant read the VAT clauses.
- Notify DVLA on completion, with the evidence pack we provide.
What we do
- The complete build, on your car, to the same standard as every other number in the edition.
- The build file, with photographs of the car on arrival and on completion.
- Corner-weighting, alignment and a shakedown before it goes back on the trailer.
This page is a plain language summary of the British route. It is not tax, customs or legal advice, and DVLA requirements change. Have your accountant read the agreement, and confirm the registration steps with DVLA before you commit.
