Questions we actually get asked

Nothing on this page was invented for a website. Every question below came from a call, a message or a mail this year, and the answer is the one that person got. They are also chapter eight of the Wahnsinn EVO Commission Handbook.

Before you commit

Can I bring my own 190E?

For a car that keeps its British registration, yes: that route is built around your own car. For a car that will live in Europe or the United States, we source and own the donor, because finding the right car is the first part of the build and we know exactly which ones are worth starting from.

Can it have a V8 instead?

No. Every Wahnsinn EVO runs the turbocharged M104 straight-six. It is the engine the recipe was proven on, it fits, it cools, and it makes around 700 horsepower with a reliability a V8 swap in this engine bay does not. The edition is one engine, on purpose.

Do I have to pay a deposit to hold a number?

No. A commission is reserved by signing, and the first payment is 50 percent on signing. There is no separate reservation fee, and nobody waits for a batch to fill.

How long does it take?

There is no fixed lead time in the agreement, and we will not invent one here. Tell us when you want to be driving it and we will tell you honestly which batch that means. What we do promise is a milestone you can see: the car running and driving under its own power, on video, before the second payment.

Can I visit during the build?

Yes, and we would rather you did. The workshop is in Etten-Leur, an hour from Amsterdam and Brussels. Owners abroad get progress updates with photographs per build number; owners nearby tend to just turn up.

What if I can only commit next year?

Then tell us. Numbers are allocated at signing, so a later commission gets a later number and the price of the batch it lands in. We keep a list of who wants to be told when a number opens.

Will it hold its value?

An original EVO II is a finite, factory-built collector's car, and its value is protected by that. A Wahnsinn EVO is a numbered car from a young marque, twenty-five of them, and its future value depends on how the edition is received and on how each car is kept.

We document every build precisely, so that a future buyer can see what was done, by whom and with what. That is the most we can honestly promise. If certainty of value is the first thing you want from this car, buy an original. If the first thing you want is to drive an EVO II hard, without a knot in your stomach about what that costs, this is the car we built for you.

Are the pictures real?

The images of the edition are renders of configurations, not photographs of a finished car, and we say so under each one. The photographs on this site are of Wahnsinn One, the prototype, and those are real.

We render your colour before you decide, in the same light and from the same angles, so you compare paint and not photography.

Can I see the interior?

Not yet as a photograph, and we would rather not show you a render of leather. The interior is built around each owner from real leather and alcantara samples, which is a better deal than a picture of someone else's. If you can visit we lay the samples out for you; if you cannot, we send them to you to choose from at home.

Can I drive it daily? Can I track it?

Daily, yes: that is the point. It is built for spirited road use, corner-weighted and aligned to be driven hard. It is not built or warranted for circuit use.

What about financing?

We do not offer it. Payment follows the build in three instalments, from an account in your own name. If you finance the car yourself, note that we invoice by milestone rather than in one sum.

Is Wahnsinn One for sale?

No. It was sold at auction in November 2025 and lives in New Jersey. It sits outside the edition, and it ran a diesel; the twenty-five run petrol.

What happens if a part is discontinued?

We substitute to an equal or better specification, and we tell you whenever the change is visible or affects how the car drives. That rule is in the agreement.

Once you are serious

Who owns the car during the build?

For Europe and the United States, we do, until final payment. It is insured under our workshop cover from the day the donor arrives until it is handed to you or your carrier. For the British route the car is yours throughout, and our liability for it while it is with us is set out in the service agreement.

What does the warranty cover, and where?

Twenty-four months or 20,000 km, whichever comes first, on our work and the parts we supply. It runs from the completion notice, and your odometer reading is recorded on it so there is no argument later. On top of that come the manufacturer warranties on components, which we pass on to you.

Remedial work is done at our workshop, or at a workshop near you that we approve in writing and reimburse. Damage from improper use, track use, lack of maintenance or third-party modifications is not covered.

Is the VIN changed?

No. The original VIN and chassis plate stay untouched throughout the build, and we photograph them on arrival and on completion. The car remains the car it was registered as, with a new engine and body declared where your country requires it.

What is in the build file?

The agreement, every underlying invoice, a specification of the parts supplied and their origin, and a record of the work performed with photographs. It is delivered with the car, and it is what makes the car explainable to an inspector, an insurer or a future buyer.

Can I change the specification after signing?

Colour, accent, wheel and interior are agreed before the build starts and can move until the relevant stage is reached; we tell you when that is. Anything outside the specification is quoted separately before we do it. The engineering underneath does not change.

Who actually builds the car?

Named specialists, each doing one thing. Heijnen Classic Cars for the build, body and paint. Schreurs Motorrevisie and TE Motorsport for the engine. Schoones for the transmission and Hardeman Motorsport for the differential. Tony de Bruijn Interior for the trim, Goeckel for the bodywork, Custom Carbon for the carbon and Wheel Mania for the wheels.

Each of them has done that job on every car since Wahnsinn One. We select them, we manage them, and we sign off every stage.

Why does the price go up after batch one?

The first five are being built at the price that made the edition possible. Each following batch is priced when it opens, against what the previous cars taught us and what parts cost by then: €150,000 for batch two, and we will not pretend to know what batch four will cost.

It is the one thing about this edition that rewards deciding early.

Can I talk to an owner?

Yes. Ask us and we will put you in touch with the owner of Wahnsinn One, who has offered to take that call.

If your question is not here, it is the one we most want to hear. Write to info@wahnsinnwagens.nl and you will get an answer from Ingmar, not from a form.
